Welcome everyone,
A small change for the Legit Raw readers out there. School is back and I'm back in the classroom with my students. We are following strict Covid protocols to try and keep everyone safe. Therefore, new posts will appear on Monday morning instead of Friday morning. I've had to rearrange my daily routines now that I am back to school.
Ok, so I think I'm in trouble. Let me explain.
A previous version of me used to be fine with dish soap to wash my hands and plain old bar soap to use in the shower. When my hair was short after a fresh haircut I would often just use the bar soap on my head too. More efficient. I may not be a simple guy but I do like to keep my life simple, especially as I get older. Then, a little over a year ago as we began developing our hand soap formula, I realized the benefits of a good formulation. You see, dish soap is great for cleaning your dirty dishes but it is terrible for your skin. I didn't pay much attention to it. My hands were always clean but my skin was in bad shape. Marks, redness, irritation, cracked skin. It was the dish soap. When I started using what would become Legit Raw hand soap all those problems went away. And my hands smelled great. And I liked it. I liked having nice smelling hands. What?! What a change for me. I never cared about that stuff before and now I do. Remember our motto at Legit Raw...when we now better we do better. Now I am doing better and loving it.
So where is the trouble you ask? Well here it is. My wife is happy that I am noticing the benefits of taking better care of my hands. Ok, still no trouble. Stay with me here. I mentioned that I was an old-fashioned bar soap guy. I won't name the brand but you all know what plain white bar soap is. It was good enough for me and good enough for my hair. It did the job. Then, a number of months ago, maybe more, I took one of my wife's fancy, organic custom soaps. I grabbed one because I was out of my plain white soap and I needed to take a quick shower before leaving the house. Well, let me tell you, I haven't looked back since. I used up that wonderful bar of soap and raided my wife's stash without telling her. I took another one and another one after that. I kept using them. I was hooked. And the really bad part is, I was the one who bought her these soaps as gifts because I knew how much she liked them. And here I was, stealing them from her and enjoying them thoroughly...until she found out. She was looking for her soaps and they were all gone. Game over for me.
I guess my point here is that once you discover something really great, it's hard to go back. Even though I worked in this industry for a bunch of years and my wife continues to work in this industry (30+ years now), I never paid much attention to what I was using on my skin.
Actually my wife is a good sport. She donated all her nice soap to me. At first I thought wow, I'm not in trouble? That got me thinking. Worrying, rather. All you married guys out there know that feeling and you know exactly what I'm talking about. You know when your wife is suddenly ok with something? My spidey senses started to tingle. Something is up. The other shoe is going to drop and I'm not going to see it coming. So here I am, waiting.
Another thought occurred to me today as I sat down to write this: if she willingly gave me all her nice soaps (with a smile), then she must be using something even better. I bet she's working on something in the lab as we speak and is bringing it home to try on herself. And she's not going to tell me about it until she absolutely has to.

Taking care of your skin is a good thing. Smelling nice is a good thing. Having soft hands is a good thing. Feeling good about taking better care of yourself is a good thing.
At Legit Raw we try to offer our customers a luxury experience at an affordable price. We think we are succeeding. I am confident in saying that you will not find a better hand soap on the market at any price. I'm not going to knock the competition. We shop at the dollar store. You can buy hand soap at the dollar store for much less than the cost of a bottle of Legit Raw hand soap. I understand why someone would make that choice. Don't kid yourself though. You do get what you pay for. A dollar store formulation is going to contain mostly water. Follow that up with chemical fragrance and harsh preservatives. Parabens and sulfates. That soap also has to go down the drain and it won't be good for our water supply. There will be a lot of salt in that formulation. That's not good for the skin either. It will be affordable though and I understand that economic pressure. I did groceries earlier today and I was shocked at the price of everything in the grocery store. Savings have to come from somewhere. For me it's meant fewer trips to fast food restaurants and that awesomely Canadian coffee chain everyone in Canada is familiar with. I think the wise decision is to cut back on the stuff that isn't good for the waistline (I LOVE donuts, cake, chips etc) and maybe treat yourself to something that is actually good for you. Legit Raw hand soaps are good for you and they make you feel better and smell better.
Now about that new tennis racquet I have my eyes on. What if I told my wife it's good for me and will make me slimmer, make me live longer and healthier...hmm.
